I am now touring my Edinburgh show around the country. The show and the dates can be found here and on my tour dates page. Whatever the start time I assure you it is the best time to see me in that town (or village)

I recorded the new series of Live At The Comedy Store in March and I think one of my sets may be in the first episode whenever it comes out- September I think- but who knows?


Lastly- I’ve been thinking about joining Twitter- but I’m not sure it’ll suit me. I’ll ponder it further.

And Happy New Year. I’m sticking firmly with pronouncing it ‘two thousand and ten’ so if you are a ‘twenty ten’ announcer may I recommend you have a long hard think about who you are, what you stand for, and perhaps even de-register from this email, we don’t need your sort round here. (Technically though, I do need you – I have a child and no fall back plan).

My tour is now long over so I’m mainly to be found mucking around trying bits out in comedy clubs for the next few months, then in summer it’ll take shape for Edinburgh and after that I believe another tour. I was given a little chess computer for Christmas so that should help avert the touring loneliness, shouldn’t it? Shouldn’t it?

I’m on Eight out of Ten cats this week, and last year I recorded a show called Great Unanswered Questions, which is also to be broadcast on Friday night on BBC in Northern Ireland, (get me: on telly on two different channels on the same night) it should be viewable on iplayer and the digital platforms etc.
I haven’t seen the edit yet but it was really fun to do and a big thanks to them for having me on it – hats off to the producer Jackie – just trusting the performers to be funny on TV? I don’t think that system will catch on.

I’m going to sort out some monthly shows in Manchester and I’ll be previewing in Arts Centres and comedy clubs in the summer so please do sign up to the mailing list if you haven’t already.

The publicity for the show is a torture exercise based on how many times I can answer ‘How did you become a comedian?
What is your show like? What is it like doing TV panel games?

Occasionally on local radio the conversation can take a rather dull turn and I get bogged down discussing what time I arrive in a town and when I last changed my cd’s in the car boot… Apologies to anyone in the Midlands who heard that spectacle of beigeness on their wireless.

I don’t get to choose the colours schemes of any articles.
I particularly enjoyed my interviews with Marsha Shandur on XFM and Shaun Keaveny on 6music in spite (or possibly because of?) the fact that both have jobs I covet.

My debut on 5live’s Fighting talk felt like it was pretty funny and I achieved a lifelong ambition of mentioning Jim Leighton’s eyebrows on something.

Regarding the show: Norwich sticks in the mind for being the only time in my career I have made a man vomit with laughter (and Guinness) although I think it could be that Guinness scored the goal and I am claiming it because of a deflection. Anyway whatever the cause, it was a memorable end to the show. And the girl who’s job it was to clean his puke from the floor displayed one of the finest examples of a positive outlook on life when looking up half-smiling she said to me ‘well he’s very good, he chews his food, there are no lumps in this’
That’s the spirit.

He has recently joined Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio Show and can be heard every Saturday morning from 8am.

Alun has several television appearances to his name, most recently Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow he’s also often seen on Eight out of ten cats, Mock The Week,  and has appeared on Soccer A.M and Live At The Comedy Store.

Radio producers are also aware of Cochrane’s talent and he’s notched up various credits from Just A Minute, 4 Stands Up, and The Now Show to Clive Anderson’s Chat Room.

At the Edinburgh festival he’s performed 6 original solo stand-up shows in the last 7 years to critical and audience acclaim.

Alun has a number of corporate entertainment clients who appreciate the ability to tailor his act to a specific group whilst still being extremely amusing and original- he owns several suits (at least 4) and now he has a child is particularly happy to wear one of them for work of this nature. Perhaps less pleasing to him is discovering he is good at work in this sector just as an enormous economic downturn strikes. Hmm.
